Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

A few weeks ago Publix had Duncan Hines cakes mixes on sale (BOGO) and I also had B2G1 FREE coupons. As a result, I stocked up on cake mixes and now that I see a coupon is available for ice cream cones I figure this will be a fun activity to do with my kids and they will also enjoy the end result.

Ingredients

  • 1 Box Cake Mix ($0.75 off 2 Betty Crocker Cake Mixes or Frostings, SS 5/22/2011)(B2G1 Free Duncan Hines Cake Mix, SS 6/5/2011)
  • 24 Cake Cup Ice Cream Cones ($0.55 off 1 Joy Ice Cream Cones)
  • Water, Oil & Eggs (as required per cake mix box directions)
  • Frosting (if desired) ($0.55 off 1 Pillsbury Frosting) ($0.40 off 1 Pillsbury Frosting, RP 6/12/2011)

Directions

Preheat Oven to 350

Mix cake mix, water, oil and eggs per box instructions

Place ice cream cones in muffin pan

Fill each ice cream cone with batter about ½ to ¾ full

Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until done

Cool on wire rack (be sure to cool completely if you are going to frost)

Fun Note: If you use a white cake mix, you can make a different ice cream like look amongst your cones by separating your batter into small bowls and adding a bit of food coloring to each bowl.

Serves 24

Total average cost of the dish, based on using coupons and buying on sale: $1.00
